Cannes: Salma Hayek Discusses John C. Reilly, "Disgusting" 'Tale of Tales' Heart Scene

Hayek said she would ask Reilly to serenade her on set.

Tale of Tales actress Salma Hayek told The Hollywood Reporter at the Cannes Film Festival that co-star John C. Reilly would serenade her on set, and she discussed eating a "disgusting" heart replica during filming.

"One of the things I love most about John is his voice," Hayek told THR. "He would arrive and I would say, 'Oh, thank God you're here. Turn off the radio. Come on, John. Serenade us.' I think he has such a beautiful voice."

In a scene from Tale of Tales, Hayek can be seen eating a heart, which was replicated by numerous ingredients, including marshmallows, sugar, blood and pasta made to look like a real heart: "It tasted horrible," Hayek said.

"The amount of sugar would make my teeth hurt," Hayek told THR. "The mixture of the textures was disgusting."

When asked to best describe Cannes in three words, Hayek said the fest is "magical," "exhausting" and "exhilarating."
