Cannes: Sony Acquires Sally Hawkins' 'Eternal Beauty' in Multi-Territory Deal (Exclusive)
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions picked up the comedy drama, directed by Craig Roberts.
Eternal Beauty, the upcoming comedy drama starring Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water, Paddington), has landed a major multi-territory deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions.
The film — written and directed by Craig Roberts in his second feature behind the camera — also stars Alice Lowe (Prevenge, Sightseers), David Thewlis (Wonder Woman, The Theory of Everything), Billie Piper (Doctor Who) and Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey). It was shot on location in Wales.
At the center of Eternal Beauty is Jane, a woman who, after being dumped at the altar, has a breakdown and spirals into a chaotic world, where love and family relationships collide with both touching and humorous consequences.
In a deal with Bankside Films, SPWA has acquired worldwide rights excluding the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the U.K., China, Japan, South Korea and the Middle East.
Bankside reps sales for France, Germany, Austria, the U.K., China and Japan, with Endeavor and Bankside co-repping for North America.
Eternal Beauty is produced by Adrian Bate and exec produced by Roberts — star of 22 Jump Street and Tolkien — for Cliff Edge Pictures, Mary Burke for the BFI, Adam Partridge for Ffilm Cymru Wales, Emma Duffy for Wellcome and Paul Higgins.
