Cannes: Umedia Takes on 'Clearance' With Richard Armitage, Naomie Harris
The action drama is the English-language debut of 'Frozen Land' director Aku Louhimies.
Belgium group Umedia has taken on world sales rights outside of South Africa and Scandinavia to Clearance, a new action drama starring British actors Richard Armitage (The Hobbit Trilogy) and Naomie Harris (Skyfall). The film will mark the English-language debut of Finnish director Aku Louhimies (Frozen Land).
Clearance tells the story of a hardened mine clearance expert Ray (Armitage) and his pregnant partner (Harris), who are kidnapped in South Sudan by a notorious warlord. To secure their freedom, Ray is forced to cross a vast minefield to retrieve a mysterious case for the warlord. The film is set to begin shooting in South Africa in November.
