Canuck b'casters in pre-telethon fund-raiser
CBC, CTV, Global team for 'Canada For Haiti' telethonTORONTO -- Canadian broadcasters have banded together to precede their Friday night telecast of MTV's "Hope For Haiti Now" telethon with their own homegrown earthquake relief fund-raiser.
The CBC, CTV and Global Television networks will air a one-hour "Canada For Haiti" telethon at 7 p.m., ahead of the two-hour star-studded MTV Networks' event at 8 p.m.
The "Hope For Haiti Now" telethon, to be hosted by George Clooney, Wyclef Jean and CNN's Anderson Cooper, will also air in Canada Friday night on the MTV, MuchMusic and the National Geographic Channel services.
Canadian media groups have also staged fund-raisers and appeals via radio, newspapers and online platforms to raise money for rescue and reconstruction efforts in Haiti.
