A recording contract with the label will be the grand prize in the singing competition show which starts airing this Sunday.

A recording contract with Capitol Records will be the grand prize for the winner of Rising Star, ABC’s singing competition show that starts airing June 22.

The all-live show begins with 30 contestants vying for approval from the show’s experts — Kesha, Ludacris and Brad Paisley — and the viewing audience who will vote on singers by using an app. Viewers will determine which of the 30 get to the second round, which begins with the fourth episode. The finale is Aug. 24.

Capitol Music Group chairman and CEO Steve Barnett praised Rising Star as a concept that “utilizes the best of television and social/mobile media to introduce new artists to the public.  Our involvement with this exciting platform will help broaden the reach of these just-discovered artists and share their music with their newly won fans nationwide.”

Capitol will also be releasing full studio recordings of the songs performed on each episode. The downloads will be available at the conclusion of each show. It is the first time Capitol has aligned itself with a singing competition show.
