Eli Roth to Be Honored By Capri, Hollywood Fest
The Italian festival is set to welcome the director of 'The House With a Clock in its Walls.'
The upcoming Capri, Hollywood Film Fest, held off the coast of Naples, is set to honor director Eli Roth and his latest film The House With a Clock in its Walls.
The pic, which stars Jack Black and Cate Blanchett, recently had its Italian premiere at the Rome Film Fest and is set to play throughout the country beginning Oct. 31. It tells the story of a 10-year-old boy (Owen Vaccaro) who moves into a magical house and accidentally unleashes evil powers beyond his control.
''This movie truly represents Eli Roth’s next big international hit,” said director Lina Wertmuller, honorary chair of the Capri in the World Institute. “He is affectionately defined as a true ‘master’ of his genre, which he continues to revisit with surprising originality."
She continued: "With this film, he has created a work of art where horror is mixed with fantasy and can therefore be seen and appreciated by children and adults alike. We are pleased to welcome him to our festival in Capri for the first time, and to present him with a significant award, which we hope will be the prelude to many other honors.''
Lee Daniels will serve as honorary chair of the festival. The 23rd Capri, Hollywood International Film Fest is set to run Dec. 27, 2018-Jan. 2. 2019. It is held annually over the New Year holiday and remains a key awards season event in the run-up to the Academy Awards.
