Capri, Hollywood Film Festival to Honor 'Room' Actress Brie Larson
Italian Paola Cortellesi will also receive the fest's best actress honor.
After its widely successful run on the independent festival circuit, Room will end the year in Capri, Italy, where its lead, Brie Larson, will receive the festival’s best actress honor.
Larson, who plays a mother who raises her son, five-year-old Jack, within the confines of a tiny room, was also nominated for a Gotham Award and Independent Spirit Award for her role. Among its many festival nods, the film took home the coveted People's Choice Award in Toronto.
“Brie Larson, at only 26, is considered the new rising star in Hollywood thanks to her amazing work in this year’s Room and Trainwreck opposite Amy Schumer,” said festival director Pascal Vicedomini.
He added: “We look forward to seeing her in Room, the film that launched this talented Californian actress into super stardom and which opens in Italian cinemas in March 2016.”
Larsen will share the award with Italian actress Paola Cortellesi, who stars in Massimiliano Bruno’s Gli ultimi saranno ultimi.
As well as Room, a number of awards-season contenders will be making the journey to Capri this year, including John Crowley’s Brooklyn, Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth, and Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl.
Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival takes place from Dec. 27, 2015 to Jan. 2, 2016.
