Whitney Cummings has joined the cast of the Columbia Pictures romantic comedy "Made of Honor," being directed by Paul Weiland. In the movie, which sees Patrick Dempsey asked to be the maid of honor of his secret love, played by Michelle Monaghan, Cummings plays one of Monaghan's best friends. Cummings, whose credits include "Punk'd" and "What About Brian," next appears in the HBO series "Tell Me You Love Me." She is repped by ICM and New Wave Entertainment. … Linara Washington is putting on her crown for "Kings of the Evening," a drama directed by Andrew P. Jones. Set in Atlanta during the Great Depression, the story follows four strangers as they struggle to dig their way out of poverty. Washington plays an expert seamstress at a glove company that works its laborers mercilessly. Also cast are Bruce McGill, James Russo and Tyson Beckford. Washington's credits include stints on Fox's "Prison Break" and NBC's "ER" and the films "Stranger Than Fiction" and "Barbershop 2." She is repped by Schiowitz, Connor, Ankrum & Wolf and Margie Weiner Management. … Matt Lanter (ABC's "Commander in Chief") has signed on to star in Good News Holdings' horror thriller "Dudleytown." The movie follows a group of teens, led by Lanter, who venture into the notoriously haunted forest of Dudleytown. Lanter recurred last year on NBC's "Heroes" and CBS' "Shark" and recently finished production starring in the MGM feature film "War Games 2: The Dead Code." He is repped by Abrams Artist Agency and by Faras Rabadi at Emerald Talent Group. … Seven-year-old Brooklynn Proulx is getting ready for two back-to-back gigs. She has landed a role in Senator International's "Fireflies in the Garden," opposite Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts and Emily Watson. Dennis Lee directs. In the movie, she will play the nosy but lovable tomboy cousin to Reynolds. Shooting has begun in Austin. Proulx also is in negotiations to join "The Heaven Project," a drama starring Paul Walker as a reformed criminal who wants to be reunited with his family. Proulx will play his daughter. She next appears as the daughter of Brad Pitt in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," from Warner Bros. Pictures. Proulx is repped by Christopher Rockwell of 1 Management. … Aaron Ashmore has joined the cast of Lionsgate's "The Christmas Cottage," the story of renowned painter Thomas Kinkade. Joining the previously announced Marcia Gay Harden, Jared Padalecki and Peter O'Toole, Ashmore has been cast as Pat Kinkade, the younger brother of Thomas. Ashmore, a series regular on the CW's "Smallville," next appears in the feature "Palo Alto," which premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. He is repped by APA and manager Paul Nicholls at Artistry Management.
