Vinessa Shaw has a ticket for "3:10 to Yuma," James Mangold's remake of the 1957 Western, starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. She will play the town bar girl who is having a love affair with an outlaw (Crowe). Rafi Gavron is dipping his quill into "Inkheart," New Line's adaptation of Cornelia Funke's best-selling children's book being directed by Iain Softley. In the story about characters from children's fables coming into the real world, Gavron will play Farid, a young Arab from the book "1001 Arabian Nights" who is brought to life and helps a girl rescue her father. A relative newcomer, Gavron will be seen in Anthony Minghella's upcoming "Breaking and Entering" opposite Jude Law. He is repped in the U.S. by Melanie Greene Management and in the U.K. by Emptage/Hallett. ? David Paetkau has joined the cast of "Alien vs. Predator 2" for 20th Century Fox. In the sequel, he plays a character who hides his insecurity by being a bully. Paetkau can be seen in the N series "Whistler" and has appeared on "CSI: Miami," "Cold Squad" and "LAX." Marcy Harriell has been cast in Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse" as a storyteller who spices things up on a girls' night out. Harriell, who also has starred in the Broadway productions "Rent" and "Lennon," was a series regular on TV's "Ed." She is repped by Gersh. ? Troy Gentile will star opposite Owen Wilson in "Drillbit Taylor," being directed by Steven Brill. Gentile is one of three teens who hire a bodyguard (Wilson) from Soldier of Fortune magazine to nip their bully problem in the bud. Since his first role in 2005's "Bad News Bears," Gentile has played young Jack Black in both "Nacho Libre" and "Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny." He recently wrapped the comedy "Good Luck Chuck," playing young Dan Fogler. Gentile is repped by the Marshak/Zachary Co. and the Hollander Talent Group. ? Travis Van Winkle is shooting the horror movie "Asylum," which David Ellis is directing. In the film, about a group of college kids who discover that their dorm was once a notorious asylum, Van Winkle will play a jokester. He also recently wrapped "Transformers."
