Simon Lee arrested in apparent domestic dispute

TORONTO -- Toronto police have arrested a judge on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.'s version of the talent show "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" for forcible confinement and assault.

Toronto police said that Simon Lee, a longtime conductor and musical supervisor for theater guru Andrew Lloyd Webber, was arrested Sunday in a room at the Hazelton Hotel in downtown Toronto after a young man jumped from a balcony onto a restaurant patio below after an apparent domestic dispute.

Lee, 46, was granted bail Monday and will reappear in a Toronto courtroom Aug. 27.

Lee, whom Webber appointed as a judge on the Canadian reality TV show, missed the final two shows on the the Canadian version of the BBC series "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?"

Webber, who co-produced the CBC version of the TV talent show he created for the BBC, appeared as a judge on both shows, including Monday night's finale.

Elicia MacKenzie, 23, emerged as the winner of the CBC talent show and will go on to star as Maria von Trapp in an upcoming Toronto revival of "The Sound of Music" that Webber will co-produce.
