CBC preps third 'Women Went' season

Docu-series returns after year-long hiatus

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. has another season of "The Week the Women Went" in the works.

Vancouver-based indie producer Paperny Films is developing a third season of the popular docu-series about what happens when women leave town to spa for a week while their men fend for themselves in front of TV cameras.

Paperny produced two seasons of the BBC format in Hardisty, Alta. and Tatamagouche, N.S. and is scouting for a third Canadian community to go without girlfriends, wives or mothers for a week.

Despite strong ratings for the first two seasons, the CBC last winter left the Paperny-produced reality series out of its regularly scheduled programming for 2009-2010 as it dealt with a worsening industry-wide TV ad slump.

The CBC confirmed Paperny is developing a third season, with no firm series order yet made.
