CBS eyes 'Man' for midseason

CBS is close to picking up the LL Cool J-starring drama "The Man" for midseason with a six-episode order, sources said.

"Man," from "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" creator Anthony Zuiker, was shot as a pilot presentation this past development season. It didn't make the cut in May but remained in contention for midseason.

"CSI: NY" showrunners Pam Veasey and Peter Lenkov are in talks to come aboard the show to run it.

The CBS Paramount Network TV-produced "Man," which stars LL Cool J as an undercover Los Angeles cop who takes care of an orphaned boy, would be reworked. Only LL Cool J and Domenick Lombardozzi have remained on board from the original cast of the presentation, which was directed by Simon West.

The new pilot episode is expected to be shot by year's end.
