CBS gets points for originality Thurs. night

NEW YORK -- CBS ran away with Thursday's primetime with an all-original schedule as the rest of its rivals put up mostly repeats.

While the Eye was new from 8-11 p.m., ABC was fully in repeats while NBC trotted out an original "30 Rock" and repeat "The Office" and "Saturday Night Live Christmas." Fox had game shows "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" and "Don't Forget the Lyrics."

The top show of the night in both viewership and the adults 18-49 demographic was "CSI" (19.8 million, 6/1 rating/16 share in adults 8-49), according to preliminary estimates released Friday by Nielsen Media Research. "CSI" benefited from the fact that "Grey's Anatomy" (7.2 million, 2.6/7) wasn't new as well as "The Office" (5.9 million, 2.7/8) being an hourlong at 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.

Fox came in second place in the hour with "Don't Forget the Lyrics" (7.5 million, 2.7/7), tied with NBC that between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. edged Fox out with "30 Rock" (5.6 million, 2.8/7).

CBS (16.5 million, 4.9/13) won the entire night against ABC (5.6 million, 1.9/5); NBC (5.7 million, 2.7/7); Fox (8.2 million, 2.6/7); ad The CW (3.5 million, 1.4/4).
