CBS Hires Former Facebook Advertising Exec to Run Digital Sales
David Lawenda joins the network, which also promoted Jo Ann Ross.
CBS Corp. on Thursday morning announced the appointment of former Facebook head of U.S. global marketing solutions David Lawenda. Lawenda, who left Facebook in March, will run digital advertising sales as executive vp digital sales and sales strategy for CBS.
Jo Ann Ross has also been promoted from president of sales for CBS Television Network to president and chief advertising revenue officer for CBS Corp. Ross has been with CBS since 1992 and had served in her previous role for nearly 15 years.
The company, in the release, described the announcements as a repositioning of its advertising sales operation "for the multiplatform future."
"This is the right team and the right structure to position CBS for maximum growth as viewer habits continue to change," CBS Corp. chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves said in a prepared statement.
Lawenda spent four years at Facebook, joining in 2013 after running ad sales and marketing for Univision. He also spent more than a decade in sales for Viacom.
While at Facebook, Lawenda said he "transformed the sales and marketing team into a world-class consultative selling organization of mobile advertising experts that helps marketers and agencies transition to mobile advertising to connect better with their consumers."
In the same announcement, CBS said that Dave Morris has been upped from chief revenue officer of CBS Interactive to executive vp advanced advertising and client partnerships. "In this new role, he will lead CBS' efforts in the evolving video space as it relates to ad innovation and audience planning, working closely with Lawenda," the company said.
