CBS Interactive ups Snyder to ops chief

Stephen Snyder has been promoted to chief operating officer of CBS Interactive, the company said Tuesday.

Snyder, who most recently was senior vp and general manager of CBS, will oversee all operations of the unit's Web sites, including, and CBS

He will report to Quincy Smith, president of the newly formed division, who announced Snyder's appointment.

"Steve not only runs the largest and fastest-growing interactive business at CBS but is a proven, successful operator," said Smith, calling Snyder's appointment a "huge win" for the division. "Given his technical background, he'll play an integral role in ensuring that our platform integrates with our current and future partners so that we take advantage of next-generation applications and interfaces for our content and audiences."

Before becoming senior vp and GM at CBS Sportsline, Snyder was the entity's executive vp product development and operations and before that was vp production. He joined in 1998.

"As I've learned from my years at CBS SportsLine, when you consistently deliver the content and interactive experience that audiences want, the consumers and advertisers will follow," Snyder said. "I think we have an incredible talent pool here at CBS Interactive as well as terrific assets with unlimited potential."
