CEC launching European branch

Operation will be headed by Yann Le Quellec

PARIS -- U.S.-based investment firm Continental Entertainment Capital is launching CEC Europe, a Paris-based operation headed by Yann Le Quellec, CEC said Friday.

CEC's European branch, which aims to provide financing to European media and entertainment companies, will focus its activities on the film industry, having already announced a co-production venture with French indie Wild Bunch in September.

Le Quellec, an adviser to Wild Bunch on the transaction, is also co-founder and managing director of production-financing company Sofica Cinemage.

"Yann is a brilliant financial professional who knows the European market. He will be instrumental to the company's international growth," CEC president and CEO Ben Waisbren said.

CEC is financing Sangmoo Lee's "The Laundry Warrior," starring Geoffrey Rush and Kate Bosworth, and Frank Miller's "The Spirit" for Lionsgate.
