Central Partnership focuses on Holmes

Russian $16 mil, 32-episode TV series

MOSCOW -- Central Partnership, Russia's top independent film producer and distributor, is embarking on the country's largest-ever TV series production, a $16 million, 32-episode series based on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories.

The shooting will begin in summer 2009 and continue through 2010. Half of the episodes will be based on Holmes stories not yet adapted for the screen in Russia, with the other half based on a series of popular Soviet TV movies of the 1980s.
