CFG orders 160 digital projectors

New lot follows earlier purchase of 100 machines last year

HONG KONG -- China Film Group has ordered 160 digital projectors to equip cinemas across the large but largely under-screened country.
U.S.-based firm Strong Westrex is to supply Japanese-designed NEC projectors with deliveries starting almost immediately and continuing into 2010. The new contract follows a previous deal for 100 projectors that was completed earlier this year.
CFG is China's largest and most influential state-run film enterprise and the sole importer of foreign films in China.
With a population of over 1.3 billion, China is estimated to have only 6,000 cinema screens.
