Chalmers takes reins of Warners' Rhino Int'l

LONDON -- Dan Chalmers has been appointed vice president of Rhino International and U.K.

With immediate effect, all London-based staff within the Rhino reissues and compilations specialist will report to Chalmers, who reports to John Reid, vice chairman, WMI and president, Warner Music Europe.

Speaking on the appointment, Reid said: "I am confident that his strategic vision and ambition for the label, blended with the experience and market knowledge of the Rhino U.K. and international teams, will take Rhino from strength to strength in all our WMI regions, including the U.K"

Until now, Chalmers has served as senior marketing director, WMI, where he drove the international roll-out of the Rhino label.

Chalmers was recruited to WMI in 2000 to help develop the major's international catalog and TV marketing strategy.

His promotion accompanies the departure of Nick Stewart from the role as director, Rhino U.K.

Stewart, who has been with WMU.K. since he was appointed to oversee specialist and catalog music in 2005, will continue to act as a consultant on catalog initiatives and on "broader new business opportunities," according to WMI.

The executive developments at Rhino come amid a worldwide restructure at Warner Music Group, which was unveiled earlier this month. As previously reported, Warner Music U.K. is expected to shed about 15 staff, and the company's Rhino activities will be affected.

WMI announced in January plans to roll out the U.S.-based Rhino business worldwide, and make much of the major's catalog roster available digitally outside the United States for the first time.
