Charlie Sheen's Former Assistant Found Dead (Report)

Rick Calamaro's body was discovered Sunday in his Los Angeles apartment.

Charlie Sheen's former assistant Rick Calamaro was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment on Sunday, TMZ reports.

Citing law enforcement insiders, the website said police discovered "numerous pain medications and an open bottle of alcohol" at the scene. Calamaro, a club promoter and on-and-off member of the Sheen entourage, allegedly partied with the actor and accompanied him during an October 2010 trip to New York City that resulted in scandal when Sheen trashed his hotel room at the Plaza Hotel.

Calamaro appeared to have been deceased for days, according to TMZ. His cause of death is pending.

Sheen debuted his new FX comedy, Anger Management, last Thursday to record ratings. His follow-up to Two and Half Men ranks as the most-watched scripted comedy broadcast in cable history -- among both adults 18-49 and total viewers (excluding children's programming).

A representative for Sheen did not immediately respond to THR's request for comment on Calamaro.
