Cheech and Chong doc to 'Light Up America'

Weinsteins producing film based on the duo's current tour

The Weinstein Co. is lighting one up with Cheech and Chong, producing and distributing a concert doc based on the duo's current "Light Up America" reunion tour.

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are on tour for their first stage show together in a quarter-century; they're reprising classic sketches like "Let's Make a Dope Deal" and "Ralph & Herbie," as well as trying newer material. The movie will incliude B-roll material from various tour stops but mainly feature two upcoming dates which have yet to be shot.

TWC will hold theatrical, television and home video rights, with the company waiting to see the final product before deciding whether it will debut in theaters or on television. Marin and Chong will produce the picture with managers Ben Feigin and Josh Klein.

Cheech & Chong gained fame in the late '70s for their own brand of stoner comedy; on the feature side, the pair starred, wrote and sometimes directed several comedy big screen hits, including "Up in Smoke" and "Still Smokin'." But they split up acrimoniously and didn't speak for about two decades, with the two embarking on seperate entertainment careers.

Even with the tour, they also haven't been seen together on the big screen in more than two decades, though at a July press conference the pair alluded to a potential doc about the tour.
