Chef Emeril Lagasse gets Ion show

Ion's first non-scripted series before a live audience

NEW YORK -- Emeril Lagasse fans will soon also get to see the celebrity chef on a new Sunday night Ion Television show.

The network on Wednesday announced "The Emeril Lagasse Show," its first original, non-scripted series to be recorded before a live studio audience.

The hour-long show will air on Sundays at 8 p.m. beginning March 28 and "capture Emeril's passion for people, entertainment, music, food and celebration," Ion said.

The chef will welcome celebrity guests to talk and break bread. A band will play music and interact with Lagasse and guests, plus the show will feature field pieces shot in and around New York City where the show will be taped.

TV veteran Karen Katz and After Five Productions will executive produce after overseeing Lagasse's long-running Food Network series "Emeril Live."

"His brand will be a dynamic addition to our general entertainment network and a treat for our audience," said Brandon Burgess, chairman and CEO of Ion, about Lagasse.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia acquired the assets related to Lagasse's media and merchandising business in 2008.

"Emeril's culinary prowess is matched by his great personal charm and appeal," said MSLO founder Martha Stewart.

Besides his Food Network experience, Lagasse is also the food correspondent for ABC's "Good Morning America." He also hosts "Emeril Green" on Discovery's Planet Green and has a new, call-in radio program "Cooking with Emeril" on Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius XM.
