Chelsea Handler Hires Manager Irving Azoff
The manager will steer Handler’s personal brand as well as advise her banner, Borderline Amazing Productions.
Irving Azoff has officially come on board Team Handler.
The manager had been advising Chelsea Handler unofficially, such as arranging for Pharrell Williams to write the current theme song for Chelsea Lately, E!'s top-rated late-night show.
"I've known Irving for a while -- actually, since he auditioned for [Chelsea Lately sidekick] Chuy's job," Handler said in a characteristically cheeky statement. "I know he's primarily a music manager, so just to stop the rumors before they start … I won't be dropping an album. "
Now Azoff is formally joining forces with the comedian and her Borderline Amazing Productions, which produces Chelsea Lately, its spinoff comedy After Lately and the E! talk show Hello Ross. The banner was also behind Handler's 2012 NBC sitcom Are You There, Chelsea?
"They obviously know comedy and how to produce it really well," Azoff said in his joint statement with Handler. "I want to help them exploit their content in the most profitable -- yet most appropriate -- way possible. I like money, too."
"As I move forward, I only want to deal with the biggest and best minds in this business," said Handler, whose E! contract will expire at the end of 2014. "Hopefully Irving introduces me to those people before he crosses over."
Handler and Borderline Amazing continue to be repped by CAA and attorney Craig Jacobson at Hansen Jacobson.
