Chernin advising Comcast on NBC bid

Not expected to take a management role if deal is successful

NEW YORK -- Former News Corp. president and COO Peter Chernin has been quietly advising Comcast Corp. on the outlook for NBC Universal businesses as the cable giant has been working on a deal for the entertainment company, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

Chernin, who is now focusing on his film and TV production firm, is not expected to take a management role if the deal is successful, the report said.

Chernin has a long-standing relationship with Comcast COO Steve Burke, who is expected to be in charge in case Comcast indeed merges its content assets with NBC Uni and takes a 51% stake as has been the focus of the deal talks.
