Chernin Co. sets up two comedies at CBS

Projects mark firm's first deal with network other than Fox

Peter Chernin's company has sold two more projects: multi-camera comedies at CBS.

One is a workplace comedy from Chris Harris, co-exec producer on another CBS multi-cam comedy, "How I Met Your Mother." It explores the generation gap between a guy in his mid 20s and another in his late 30s. The project garnered interest from several networks before landing at CBS with a penalty.

The second is a blue-collar workplace comedy about the staff of a superstore from newcomer Jared Stern.

The two script sales mark the first projects the Chernin Co. has set up at a network other than Fox.

The company, run on the TV side by Katherine Pope, has a producing deal with News Corp. that includes several blind production commitments at Fox.

Its Fox projects include John Glenn's vigilante drama "Fallen," a multi-camera comedy by Bobby Bowman, an animated project from Seth Green, Matthew Senreich and Tom Root and a darkly comic drama from writer Diane Ruggiero.
