Chess Streamer Hikaru Nakamura Signs With UTA (Exclusive)

Earlier this month, he joined esports organization Team SoloMid as its first ever pro-Chess player.

Chess streamer Hikaru Nakamura has been signed by UTA for worldwide representation in all areas.

As the top ranked speed Chess (a fast version of the strategy game known as blitz) player, Nakamura has won five U.S. championships and numerous other titles in competitive tournaments.

On Twitch, Nakamura has over 523,000 followers and frequently streams to viewers around the world, maintaining a positive channel that advocates for growing the game on the platform.

This past June, Nakamura hosted Twitch's Pogchamps tournament, which is now in its second year of operation. Earlier this month, UTA brokered the deal for Nakamura joined professional esports organization Team SoloMid as its first ever pro-Chess player.

Nakamura, born in Japan to an American mother and Japanese father, moved to the U.S. at two years old and has played Chess since childhood. At 15, he became the youngest American to win the Grandmaster title.

Beyond streaming and competitive tournaments, Nakamura has made a cameo appearance in Showtime's Billions and authored the book Bullet Chess: One Minute to Mate.

This signing continues UTA's gaming roster expansion, having signed Fortnite streamer BrookeAB and electronic music and gaming personality Deadmau5 within the last year.
