The Dante Lam action film will get a day-and-date release with mainland China.

In a post-AFM deal, China Lion Film has picked up Dante Lam's The Demon Within from Emperor Motion Pictures in North America and Australia/New Zealand for a day-and-date release with mainland China.

The movie features popular Chinese stars Daniel Wu and Nick Cheung and tells the story of a dutiful Hong Kong policeman who saves the life of a betrayed gang leader.

Specific release locations and dates will be announced later. China Lion Film Distribution previously released Lam’s The Viral Factor, starring Jay Chou and Nicholas Tse, which stands as one of the company’s most successful films.

China Lion Film is headquartered in Los Angeles, with international offices in Toronto, Sydney and Beijing, and has theatrically released a number of major films from top Asia-Pacific producers.

The company will release Chinese director Feng Xiaogang’s film Personal Tailor on Dec. 19 in Australia and New Zealand and Dec. 20 in the U.S. and Canada.
