"It's a far more embarrassing story that I now get to explain every time someone asks," the actor says.

Chris Evans' dog, Dodger, at this point may be more famous than the Captain America actor. Whenever Evans posts a video of his best pal on social media, it usually winds up getting millions of views.

And on Thursday, while dropping by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to mainly discuss his new political project “A Starting Point," Evans revealed the adorable story behind Dodger's name.

First bringing up the World Series, Kimmel shifted the topic to Dodger, who is not named after the Los Angeles team, as Evans is a Boston native and diehard fan of his hometown teams.

"It's a far more embarrassing story that I now get to explain every time someone asks," Evans said. "There's a movie called Oliver & Company, it's a Disney movie, an animated movie, that I grew up watching. Billy Joel is the voice of Dodger. And when I first saw him in the shelter, I said, 'He looks like Dodger from Oliver & Company. And after I decided I was taking him home with me, I went through the process of thinking of other names, and I just couldn't get off Dodger. So, I said, 'Well, I am not going to overthink this one.'"

Not Dodger related, while discussing “A Starting Point," Evans noted he had some great chats with politicians across the aisle — except for Donald Trump, who turned him down. Twice.

"President Trump said no to Captain America. I just want to point that out for the record," Kimmel said.
