Christoph Waltz says 'Nein' to cop series

Turns down role in German TV franchise 'Tatort'

COLOGNE, Germany -- Austrian actor Christoph Waltz, hot off his Oscar-buzzworthy role in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds," has turned down an offer to star in Germany's top-rated cop series "Tatort."

German public broadcaster HR had been courting Waltz to join the "Tatort" franchise, one of the longest-running and most-successful in German TV.

But the Players Agency, which repesents Waltz in Germany, told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that the actor had turned down the part.

Waltz, who is represented internationally by ICM, is reportedly fielding several feature offers following his breakthrough performance in "Basterds," which won him the best actor prize at this year's Festival de Cannes.
