Christopher Walken, Juliette Lewis to Be Honored at Antalya Film Festival
The Oscar-winning actor and Oscar-nominated actress are among the special guests at the Turkish festival's 54th edition, which opens Saturday.
Turkey's Antalya film festival will present Christopher Walken with an honorary lifetime achievement award this year.
Walken, who won an Oscar for his performance in Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter, will receive an Honorary Golden Orange Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Art of Film, organizers said Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Juliette Lewis, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her part in Cape Fear, will be presented with the key to the city of Antalya by Mayor Menderes Turel.
The actors will be joined by other prominent guests at the Mediterranean resort for the festival. Japanese actor and Jim Jarmusch regular Masatoshi Nagase (Radiance) will be among the international stars taking part in the opening-night festivities.
Filmmakers Sean Baker (The Florida Project), Ai Wei-Wei producer Chin-Chin Yap (Human Flow), Cannes prize winner Aida Begic (Never Leave Me), Academy Award winner Michel Hazanavicius (Redoubtable), multiple Cannes laureate Michel Franco (April’s Daughter), Golden Bear winning producer-director Vivian Qu (Angels Wear White), Academy Award winner Danis Tanovic (No Man’s Land) and Annecy audience award winners Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman (Loving Vincent) are also among the guests.
Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof, who won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes this year for A Man of Integrity, whose passport was recently confiscated by Iranian authorities, will be unable to attend for a screening of his film, but producer Kaveh Farman will represent him.
The international jury judging a lineup of 13 features in competition is headed by Palestinian director Elia Suleiman. The feature lineup includes Michel Franco's April's Daughter, Hazanavicius' Redoubtable and Baker's The Florida Project.
The festival program is curated by newly appointed artistic director, and British producer, Mike Downey.
The 54th Antalya Film Festival kicks off this coming Saturday and runs through Oct. 27.
