Cinedigm nixes Jackson broadcast in H'wood

Other locations will simulcast memorial as planned

Digital-cinema integrator Cinedigm and the Mann Chinese Six theater announced the cancellation of the live distribution of the Michael Jackson memorial service to the theater, in response to a request by the Los Angeles Police Department. Due to security concerns resulting from the overwhelming demand of individuals in the Los Angeles area to participate in the memorial service, this alternate venue at Hollywood and Highland, steps from the Michael Jackson star on the Walk of Fame, will no longer be able to show the live feed.

"The security of those in the Los Angeles area must come first. While we wish we could bring the service to more local fans, the right decision is to remove the Mann from our group of theatres providing this event," said Jonathan Dern, president of Cinedigm Entertainment Group. "We're glad that the fans in our other 37 locations across the country will still be able to come together to celebrate the life of the King of Pop."
