The cinema convention will honor the giant screen exhibitor ahead of Marvel's 'Avengers: Infinity War' being shot entirely with the new Imax/Arri 2D camera.

Imax will receive the 2015 CineEurope Award for Achievement Through Innovation at CineEurope on June 25, organizers said Monday.

Imax, having just unveiled its new laser projection systems for its giant-screen theaters, will be feted on the last day of the CineEurope cinema convention, which is set to run from June 22 to 25. "Our imagination has never been limited by technology, but rather has inspired new technologies that have redefined how millions have experienced movies," Imax CEO Richard L. Gelfond said in a statement on news of his company's upcoming CineEurope tribute.

Imax also recently introduced its new 2D digital camera, the Imax/Arri digital camera, to be used by filmmakers Joe Russo and Anthony Russo to shoot parts of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and the next installments of the Avengers franchise — Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two.

"Imax continues to be known as a leader in the motion picture industry through its innovation and vision. The company deserves tremendous accolades for its accomplishments and for its passion and commitment to the motion picture industry," Andrew Sunshine, co-managing director of CineEurope, added in his own statement.

CineEurope is produced by Prometheus Global Media, owner of entertainment publications including The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard.
