Cineflix Rights Sells 'The Day Kennedy Died' to China, Europe

The multi-territory deals for the Smithsonian Channel and ITV documentary come ahead of the 50th anniversary of the U.S. president's death.

TORONTO – The Smithsonian Channel's The Day Kennedy Died has been sold widely internationally ahead of its Nov. 17 debut, including to China and across Europe.

Cineflix Rights has sold the Finestripe Productions documentary to CCTV China, Foxtel Australia, Sky Italia, Discovery Iberia and Discovery Netherlands.

Cineflix's distribution arm also inked territory deals for VRT Belgium, ORF Austria, TV4 Sweden, RTL Belgium, DRTV Denmark, NRK Norway and N24 Germany.

The foreign sales for the TV special come ahead of the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's death later this month.

Written and directed by Leslie Woodhead, the milestone film offers an hour-by-hour look at the events leading up to the U.S. president's death.

The Day Kennedy Died was originally commissioned for ITV in the U.K. and Smithsonian Channel in the U.S. and is produced by Lorraine McKechnie and executive produced by Sue Summers for Finestripe Productions.
