Cinema Expo Int'l to honor Marinca

LONDON -- Cinema Expo International will honor Romanian-born British actress Anamaria Marinca with the Cinema Expo Award of Excellence in Acting at this month's event in Amsterdam.

Tommaso Campione, international show director of Cinema Expo, made the announcement Thursday.

Marinca most recently appeared in the Cannes Palme D'Or winner "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" and was lauded by film critics for her performance. Marinca will receive her award June 28 at the closing-night banquet to be held at the Amsterdam RAI.

"Cinema Expo is thrilled to honor Anamaria Marinca," Campione said. "Anamaria's career includes extensive credits in theater as well as television, and if her first film performance is anything to go by, I am sure we will see plenty more of her on the big screen."

Marinca can next be seen in Francis Ford Coppola's "Youth Without Youth."

The 2007 Cinema Expo convention will include eight screenings of upcoming films not yet released in the region, informative seminars dealing with operating and marketing motion picture theaters, gala sponsored food functions as well as a full-scale trade show for the equipment and concessions side of the business.

The Nielsen Film Group, a division of Nielsen Business Media -- the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter -- produces the convention.
