The deal means that Fandango now services seven of the country's largest cinema chains.

Online movie-ticketing service Fandango is partnering with Marcus Theatres, the country's fifth-largest cinema chain with 685 screens in the Midwest.

Fandango, a unit of NBCUniversal, is now the largest online ticket-seller for the nation's top seven theater circuits: Regal, AMC, Cinemark, Carmike, Marcus, Southern and Harkins.

The deal with Marcus takes effect this fall and will bring the total number of screens that Fandango services in the U.S. to 26,000. Marcus was one of the first theater chains to help launch rival ticket service 15 years ago but now will make Fandango its preferred ticketing partner.

Marcus has locations throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Ohio.

"At Marcus Theatres, we are committed to creating conveniences for our guests, from ticket purchase to the in-theater experience," said Marcus president/CEO Rolando Rodriguez. “This new partnership allows us to provide Fandango’s many conveniences and top-ranking mobile apps to our guests.”

More and more, theaters are opting for using multiple ticketing services. Last month, Regal, which already uses Fandango, signed a deal with, which now represents more than 28,000 screens worldwide.
