Cinereach to present documentaries


NEW YORK -- Documentary helmers Albert Maysles ("Gimme Shelter"), Rachel Grady ("Jesus Camp"), Sandi DuBowski ("Trembling Before G-d") and Afia Nathaniel will present short docus from directors they've mentored through the new nonprofit Cinereach program.

Mira Nair ("Monsoon Wedding") will present the works of Cinereach film fellows Nicholas Bruckman, Suel Kim, Annie Waldman, and Pilar Zaragoza March 19 at New York's Gramercy Park Hotel. They were selected by Gen Art's Jeffrey Abramson, producer Caroline Baron, Good founder Benjamin Goldhirsh and Film Society of Lincoln Center's Kent Jones, each receiving a $5,000 grant and filmmaking equipment to create socially relevant films. Cinereach founder Phillip Engelhorn has distributed $1 million in grants to date.
