Cinetic hires lawyer Victoria Cook

Will focus on N. American sales, film finance

More Cannes coverage

CANNES -- Cinetic Media has hired entertainment law veteran Victoria Cook.

The exec will focus on North American sales and film finance for the multipronged New York sales, finance and digital company.

Cook was a partner at law firm Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz. While it's not billed as a direct replacement, Cook's responsibilities will partly overlap with that of former exec Sarah Lash, who recently left Cinetic.

In her law career, Cook has repped filmmakers, writers and actors; she also has deep indie roots, co-producing the doc "Screwed" and co-founding the New York Underground Film Festival.

Cinetic is repping two high-profile pics playing the Festival de Cannes: Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" and Alejandro Amenabar's "Agora."
