Cinram boosts output, trims Q2 loss

Company says it replicated 246 mil DVDs in quarter

TORONTO -- Canadian CD and DVD manufacturer Cinram International Income Fund on Thursday narrowed its second-quarter loss on higher DVD production for Universal Pictures in Europe.

Toronto-based Cinram posted a loss of $8.7 million for the three months ending June 30, compared with a loss of $25.5 million in 2007, on revenue of $412.8 million, up from a year-earlier $345.1 million.

Cinram said it replicated 246 million DVDs during its latest quarter, up 18% from 2007 levels.
