Circuit City, Napster to offer joint music service


NEW YORK - Retail chain Circuit City and Web music service Napster said on Friday they would jointly offer a subscription service with access to millions of songs, the latest effort to compete with Apple Inc.'s popular iTunes music store.

The Circuit City + Napster service will begin April 29 with a subscription cost of $14.95 per month.

U.S. electronics chains and Web music services have sought new ways to team up and compete with iTunes. In October, Best Buy Co. introduced a music player and subscription service with partners SanDisk Corp. and RealNetworks Inc...
