Citytv Rocks Canada's New Year's Eve TV Ratings, Rolling Over Dick Clark and Snooki
Homegrown music acts help Citytv's New Year's Eve TV bash crush the American competition.
TORONTO -- Canuck broadcaster Rogers Media beat out the U.S. competition from Dick Clark to Snooki to post the high-rated New Year’s Eve TV special in Canada.
Rogers’ 26th annual Citytv New Year’s Bash live from Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square pulled in 5.26 million total viewers, according to BBM Canada data.
That beat out 3.64 million viewers of ABC’s Dick Clark’s Primetime and Rocking New Year, another 1.39 million viewers for CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live coverage, and the 575,000 viewers that tuned into MTV Canada’s to watch Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi‘s midnight ball-drop from New Jersey.
Hosted by Citytv presenters Gord Martineau, Tracy Moore, Kevin Frankish and Dina Pugliese, Citytv's New Year's Bash included live performances by rockers Blake McGrath, Shawn Desman and Danny Fernandes.
Citytv also streamed its two-hour New Year’s Eve special on iPad.
