Clapp takes cinema exhibitor group's top post


LONDON -- British exhibition trade organization the Cinema Exhibitors' Assn. has hired Phil Clapp as its chief executive, the group said Tuesday.

Clapp's appointment was announced by CEA chairman Barry Jenkins.

He joins from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, where he most recently was deputy director, responsible for policy on the creative industries, including film.

Clapp takes on his new duties Oct. 15.
