CMA Awards: Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, Eric Church Lead Nominations

The awards show, celebrating its 50th anniversary, is set to air live Nov. 2 on ABC.

Chris Stapleton, Eric Church and budding newcomer Maren Morris are the leading contenders for the 2016 Country Music Association Awards, it was announced Wednesday.

The three performers received five nominations each. The CMAs, celebrating their 50th anniversary, will air live Nov. 2 from Nashville on ABC.

Stapleton is nominated for entertainer of the year, along with Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan and Keith Urban. Stapleton's mentions also include a musical event of the year nom, which he shares with his wife Morgane for "You Are My Sunshine."

Morris had a breakout year, earning nominations for female vocalist, new artist and album of the year honors for Hero. Her hit "My Church" is up for single and song of the year.
