CNN's Lizzie Kerner Promoted to VP Current Programming
The cable news net also ups two others in the growing originals department.
Bolstered by ratings gains and Emmy nominations, CNN has made several key promotions on its original series team.
Most notably, three-year CNN vet Lizzie Kerner has been upped to vp current programming, supervising production on all of the cable news network's expanding original series and working closely with outside production companies. Kerner, who previously served as originals' senior director of development, will continue to report to CNN Worldwide senior vp development and acquisitions Vinnie Malhotra in the Los Angeles office.
Elsewhere, originals' Jon Adler has been promoted to director of program development, and Chanel Carmona has been upped to associate director. The pair will continue to work with outside production companies on bringing new series to the network.
CNN Worldwide exec vp talent and content development Amy Entelis announced the promotions on Thursday, just a week after the conclusion of doc series The Seventies. The decade-spanning series, which kicked off in 2014 with The Sixties, has been one of the strongest additions to the CNN originals roster. The Sixties recently nabbed an Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series Emmy nomination, and CNN has already given the go-ahead for The Eighties.
