The tune, titled “Princess of China,” leaked online early Monday morning, Oct. 17, featuring wailing vocals and synth R&B beat.
“Once upon a time we fell apart/ You were holding in your hands the two halves of my heart,” frontman Chris Martin croons before Rihanna chimes in, “Once upon a time we were burning bright/ Now all we ever seem to do is fight.”

Martin revealed to MTV earlier this fall that the unexpected collaboration had turned out to be one of his favorites.
“Well, her bit on our record is my favorite bit… when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it,” he said. “And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music.”
“From where we’re sitting, it seems like you can try and sound any way you like nowadays,” he continued. “You don’t have to be in a rock box or a hip-hop box or a pop box, an I think it’s fun when you embrace that idea.”

They’ll follow the release with an Oct. 27 guest spot on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and will team up with Emma Stone for Saturday Night Live on Nov. 12.
