Colors grabs 'Bigg' Season 2

Shilpa Shetty may join show as host or contestant

NEW DELHI -- Colors, the new Hindi entertainment channel from joint venture Viacom18, will premiere the second season of the local version of "Big Brother" on Aug. 18.

"Bigg Boss" first debuted on Sony Entertainment Television in 2007, produced by Endemol India, the same firm that will produce the second season for Colors.

Last year, "Celebrity Big Brother" -- a U.K. version of the show that aired on Channel 4 -- made headlines when Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty ended up in an alleged race row with British contestant Jade Goody during the show.

While rumors indicate that Shetty will join "Bigg Boss 2" either as an anchor or participant, no comment was forthcoming from Viacom18, a 50-50 joint venture between Viacom and Network18, Colors' parent company.

"Bigg Boss 2" will premiere after the ongoing version of "Fear Factor" ends its four-week run.
