Comcast Int'l licenses shows in Asia

Pacts involve 270 hours from E!, Style, G4, Golf Channel

Comcast International Media Group on Sunday unveiled a host of licensing deals with Asian outlets for shows from its quartet of U.S. cable channels -- E!, Style, G4 and the Golf Channel. The deals total some 270 hours and involve Australia, India, Malaysia and Thailand.

"Comcast International Media Group's programming continues to be a favorite choice among TV buyers in Asia Pacific," said Christine Fellowes, managing director Asia Pacific for the L.A.-based distributor.

Among the deals:

-- In Australia, Fuel TV has acquired G4's series "International Sexy Ladies Show" as well as "Web Soup," which will be localized for the region.

-- Zee Cafe in India has picked up E!'s "E! News."

-- Malaysia's ntv7 has acquired from Style Seasons 1 and 2 of "Style Her Famous" as well as three seasons of "Dress My Nest."

-- In Thailand, True Inside has licensed "Style Her Famous," while True Xzyte has picked up E!'s"Wildest Cop Show Moments."

Meanwhile, in other market-related news, E! Entertainment's "Reailty Hell" has just been picked up for formatting by Italy's Mediaset, France's Banijay Entertainment, Sweden's Fremantle subsidiary and Denmark's Blu Entertainment.

"We think the comedic aspect of the show will definitely translate very well and have great appeal to European viewers," said Jene Elzie, vp international sales at Comcast International Media Group, the umbrella banner for distribution of E! product.

In "Reality Hell," E! has fun with the global obsession with getting a shot at fame. The catch? Everyone on the show is an actor trying to see just how far they can push one unsuspecting person who thinks he or she will be appearing on a true reality show. The series debuted Stateside in August.
