Comcast trims 39 jobs

Entertainment group layoff amounted to 3% cut

Comcast Entertainment Group had a round of layoffs Wednesday, cutting 39 positions.

A Comcast spokesperson said the downsizing represents less than a 3% reduction of staff and were culled from across the company’s entertainment networks, online businesses and international divisions.

“CEG’s strong brands, diverse revenue streams and global footprint provide a strong foundation that is committed to long-term growth,” the company said in a statement.

The parent company reportedly is engaged in acquisition talks with NBC Universal.
