Comcast ups Lee Raftery to senior vp

Exec to oversee marketing for firm's international media unit

Comcast's Lee Raftery comes to Cannes with a promotion in his pocket. He has just been upped to senior vp international marketing for the Comcast International Media Group. Parent company Comcast is in the process of getting government approval for its $30-odd billion buyout of NBC Universal.

Based in CIMG's Los Angeles headquarters, Raftery is charged with spearheading all marketing efforts for CIMG's cable channels -- E!, Style, G4 and the Golf Channel -- as well as leading the company's international marketing teams in the U.S., U.K. and Hong Kong. Raftery is also responsible for the development of marketing strategies and plans for CIMG's channel properties, program sales and digital content outside the U.S.

"Since joining CIMG in 2008, Lee has spearheaded a number of successful global marketing campaigns, solidifying our core brands, E! and the Style Network, as well as developing such emerging brands as G4 and Golf Channel, on an international scale," said Kevin MacLellan, president of CIMG and Comcast Entertainment Prods.

Among Raftery's recent accomplishments are the 2010 "Live From the Red Carpet" initiative for E!, delivering the most-watched season ever.

Before joining CIMG, Raftery worked for 10 years with toy company Hasbro, holding various senior level marketing positions, and before that he held marketing posts at Disney.
