'Making it Big' will be published in 2016.

Comedian Ralphie May has signed with publisher St. Martin’s Press to write Making It Big, a humorous memoir.

The book will recount humorous stories of May’s career as a stand-up comedian, as well as personal accounts of his difficult childhood growing up in poverty in the rural South.

“My book will kick your ass and melt your face,” May joked in a statement. “If you haven’t read a comedy book, start here.”

He is collaborating with author Nils Parker, who co-wrote the screenplay for Tucker Max’s I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell adaptation.

Publication is expected in 2016.

The announcement comes on the heels of May’s latest comedy special, Unruly, released earlier this year on Netflix.

May got his start in comedy at the urging of the late Sam Kinison and finished second on the debut season of NBC's Last Comic Standing

Anthony Mattero of Foundry Literary + Media repped May on the book deal. He's managed by Judi Brown-Marmel and Reg Tigermen of Levity Entertainment Group.
