The two-night limited series will air in late September on Showtime.

Jeff Daniels' James Comey and Brendan Gleeson's President Trump face off in the first trailer for Showtime's limited series, The Comey Rule.

The preview opens with the revived look into Hillary Clinton's emails just days before the 2016 election. Daniels' Comey is also shown learning that Russia may be "trying to sabotage" Clinton's campaign, to which he responds, "How?" After Trump wins the election and is sworn in and Comey is investigating possible Russian interference in the election, Trump is shown reaching out to the FBI director and inviting him to the infamous White House green room dinner where Trump, in the preview and in reports of the meeting, asked for loyalty from the FBI director.

Gleeson's Trump is also shown talking about how "unfairly" he's been treated and how Comey is a "bad guy."

Meanwhile, Comey says, "If we ever put anything above the truth, it's a bell that can never be unrung."

The star-studded cast for the limited series, some of whom are seen in the trailer, includes Holly Hunter as former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, Michael Kelly as former FBI director Andrew McCabe, Jennifer Ehle as Patrice Comey, Scott McNairy as former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Steven Pasquale as former FBI agent Peter Strzok.

The two-part, four-hour series, based on Comey's memoir A Higher Loyalty will premiere on consecutive nights: Sunday, Sept. 27 and Monday Sept. 28 at 9 p.m.

The Comey Rule, from CBS Television Studios, was directed and adapted for the small screen by Billy Ray (Shattered Glass, Captain Phillips).

Ray executive produces with Alex Kurtzman, Shane Salerno and Heather Kadin. The project comes from Kurtzman's Secret Hideout, The Story Factory and Home Run Productions in association with CBS TV Studios.
